'Never shall we forget'

In this unit of study you will develop your historical and geographical skills by considering how historians and geographers represent the past and the present and the challenges that this creates. You will curate a focus within a gallery which is part of a year group exhibition to victims of the Holocaust and other contemporary genocides. The exhibition is timed to coincide with international Holocaust Remembrance Day which falls this year on January 27th, 2018. Introduction to the HOLOCAUST

In this series of 5 taught lessons you will learn about the Holocaust and the contemporary genocide in Darfur. We will explore the causes of genocide, how people were affected by it and explore themes related to the events that unfolded across Europe and the wider world between 1933 to 2018

What makes a successful representation of genocide? What should be included, what should be omitted? How do you engage an audience with a subject of weight and sensitivity? These are challenges you will need to consider.

tHE RESEARCH

All good history starts with a question and the curiosity to research and answer the question. Good research underpins good learning. Research is challenging when undertaken correctly and in this section you will find help, guidance and resources to support you.

tHE ACTION

Your task is to work in groups to produce a thoughtful and meaningful museum exhibition based around a theme. You will produce a physical gallery of information and thought provocation based around the 'Power of Words' theme.
