Aims and results of Mao's policies
During the 27 years of Mao's rule the Revolution that China went through was both broad and deep within Chinese society. Historiography surrounding Mao has not stayed constant and given the relatively recent death of Mao compared to Stalin or Hitler is likely to continue to change for the foreseeable future. You will now begin to look at how deep Mao's impact was and whether there was any opposition, resistance or limits to Mao's power during the 27 year of Communist Party rule. Remember in a totalitarian state there will always be likely to be some limits or resistance to state control, because of the nature of propaganda, these can be sometimes difficult to identify. Read through pages Pages 137 to 149 and complete the following table as you go:
