In History (and English) we want you to be able to structure your writing in the form of PEEL paragraphs so that you can clearly express and communicate your ideas. A good PEEL paragraph seeks to communicate ideas about a key POINT, you should begin a paragraph with a sentence or two outlining this key point. As a historian you will now need to introduce EVIDENCE to support your point, a good historian will give several pieces of evidence to support their point. You might use quotes or facts or reference to a source to give evidence for your point. You now need to EXPLAIN or evaluate your evidence to show how it helps answer the main point. This is so that you demonstrate how the evidence supports the point that you are making. Finally you need to link back to point that you made at the beginning of the paragraph (like a mini-conclusion).
Congratulations - Now you have written a PEEL paragraph and provided a structure to communicate your main POINT!
